Už hodne dlhú dobu som s obdivom sledoval mtb etapové preteky po svete a drsných bajkerov, čo ich s prehľadom dávajú. Keď sa ma môj parťák na Craft Transalp v jeden usmoklený novembrový deň spýtal, či by som mal záujem, tak som dlho neváhal.  Predstava, že sa zaradím ku vyšľahaným borcom, pri pohľade na ktorých bajkerkám kvapalina v brzdových hadičkách vrie, mi nedáva o mojom rozhodnutí pochybovať. Aj kvôli obmedzenému počtu štartujúcich dvojíc, ktorých je cca 500, podávame na druhý deň prihlášku. V propozíciách usporiadatelia sľubovali výživných  8 etáp so 671km a 20880 nastúpanými metrami.

Craft Transalp je osemdňový mtb pretek dvojíc, ktorého začiatok je pri Rakúsko-Nemeckých hraniciach v meste Mittenwald a ciel pri Lagu del Garda. Už pri príchode na registráciu vidíme, že organizačne je pretek podchytený vysoko kvalitne. Nenájdem azda nič, čo by som mohol počas ôsmych dní vytknúť. Je to už 13. ročník, takže muchy mali vychytané. Pri registrácii nečakáme, dostávame fajné repre darčeky.. a malú knižku, v ktorej som našiel dopodrobna rozpísanú každú etapu pretekov. Nazriem, horko pregĺgam a odkladám.

Každý deň pretekov prebiehal viac menej v tom istom duchu. Štart bolo o 8,00 alebo 9,00. Dojazd do cieľa väčšinou okolo druhej, tretej. Tímy ako Toppeak s Lakatom, Specialized Racing so Sauserom, či Karl Platt prišli samozrejme minimálne o hodinku či hodinku a pol skôr ako my. Hneď na prvej etape ma dosť pobavili, keď na trati, ktorá mala 111km a 2100 výškových, mali prví v cieli priemerku 30,7kmh. Pričom predpokladám, že nejaká rezerva tam určite ešte bola, keďže nešli tempo jednodňového preteku a  nechali si trochu síl aj na sedem ďalších etáp. Jednoducho iný svet. Samotný štart a dojazd do cieľa bol každý deň zážitok. Množstvo povzbudzujúcich občanov správne namotivovalo pri štarte a pri dojazde do cieľa dokázalo vyburcovať k záverečnému šprintu z toho minima síl čo ostalo.

Nasledovalo občerstvenie v cieli a navštívenie stánkov sponzorov ako napríklad Scott alebo Shimano, kde si mohol človek dať zoservisovať bajk. Majitelia značky Scott to vychytali najlepšie. Stačilo po dojazde do cieľa odovzdať bajk šprechujúcemu servisákovi a on vám z tej kôpky nešťastia, čo ste mu odovzdali, vrátil nový bajk. Umytý a zoservisovaný… dokonca aj gumy napustil nejakou olejovou srandou. Parťákovi vymenili ložiská zadnej stavby gratis.

18. hodina bol čas kedy sa začali účastníci schádzať v športovej hale na  Pasta párty. Spoločná večera, kde bol každý rád že sedí a prijíma stratené kalórie. Ako už názov v sebe nesie tvorili základ vždy cestoviny, spestrené o šunku, kura či zeleninu. Sprevádzané premietaním fotiek z aktuálnej etapy a vyhodnotením najlepších bajkerov v každej z piatich kategórií (muži, masters 80+, masters 100+, ženy a mix). Na záver večera nám predstavili etapu ktorá nás čaká ďalší deň. Zhlboka sa nadýchnem, prípadne zanadávam, na čo som sa to dal a ide sa spať.

Transalp má všeobecne povedané dve trate, ktoré sa ob rok medzi sebou striedajú s každoročnými menšími úpravami, aby sa zaručila atraktivita aj pre tých, čo na etapák zavítajú viackrát. Tak či onak, každý si na ôsmich etapách nájde to svoje. Či už krásne výhľady na Dolomity, miestami ťažké technické zjazdy, prechody cez vysokohorské priesmyky, tiahle singláče alebo hodne drncavé zjazdy, na ktorých sa mi raz od nekončiacich vybrácií rozsypala sedlovka so sedlom, prípadne v jeden deň vytratil päť bidónov z košíkov. V tento deň som si pripadal ako sociálne slabší občan, keď som zbieral fľaše po trati, ktoré niekto iný vytratil. Kedže bol výpek tak mi nič iné neostávalo. Na Slovenských maratónoch som flašu vytratil doteraz len dvakrát. To len pre predstavu, ako ma to na mojom HTčku priebežne na etapách vytriaslo. Na margo fľaší by som podotkol, že občerstvovačky boli každý deň len dve!

Tí, čo uvažujete nad účasťou, zbehnite na Transalp budúci rok. Ide sa alternatíva, ktorá ma vo svojom portfóliu viac singláčov a je technickejšia. V prípade horšej kondičky ale o to náročnejšia. Má o niečo menej kilometrov, ale zato viac výškových. Čiže len smelo do toho. Zbalíte o balenie magnézia viac, pribalíte nejaký ten gel a spolknete to jak skleničku vody. Prvé info pre 2014 už nájdete na stránke podujatia.

Na záver odporúčanie. V prípade účasti je podľa môjho parťáka a mňa najlepšie riešiť ubytovanie počas transalpu nasledovne. Zobrať auto, tretieho vodiča a buď si dopredu zabezpečiť ubytovanie, alebo bohate stačí si aj ubytovanie nájsť na mieste. Ubytovacích kapacít v alpských dedinách je dostačujúco. Musíte však nájsť dobrú dušu, ktorá vám tento celý špás odšoféruje. Možnosť prespania v športových halách, ktorú ponúka organizátor, je len pre drsné povahy. Človek sa v preplnených a jemne zapáchajúcich telocvičniach moc nevyspí, telo nezregeneruje, veci nevyschnú, obmedzené množstvo batožiny.. Požičiavanie a cestovanie karavanom je zas finančne náročné (pokiaľ človek nemá vlastný karavan). Na tomto mieste by sme sa radi poďakovali Športservisu z Podunajských Biskupíc, ktorý nám materiálne pomohol. Celý pretek je po finančnej stránke náročný, preto sme ich pomoc s nadšením privítali.
